I decided to make my first (real) post about a band that's very dear to me: Lemon Demon. Chances are good that you haven't heard of this band, but hey, it's my job to inform you. The lead man (and indeed, the only man for the most part) behind Lemon Demon is Neil Cicierega. Neil is somebody you most likely do know, even if you don't know it. That's because he's is the inventor of The Potter Puppet Pals and The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. If you haven't heard of these memes, I can't really help you. Like iPods are to Macs, one is appreciated, the other is not.

That's about to change though. You are about to discover that Neil's musical skill is at par with his puppeteering abilities.

As I hinted before, this is largely a one-man band. Though you'd never be able to tell with the elaborate sound each song brings. His lyrics are often reflective of psychedelic rock, or are at least loose in their meaning. The song instrumentals (which are were done mostly electronically early on, but have progressively used more and more real instruments – all played by Neil) are vamped and stylized to perfection and complement the interesting lyrics well.

The verdict: An excellent and under appreciated (isn't that always the case with indie musicians...) band. Both Cd Freedom and WikiLemon, which are both linked to above, provide some free songs by Lemon Demon, so you have no excuse not to check them out!

So, I figured I'd tell you all a little bit about this here website. My plan is to post new music (I may write about a band, an album, or even a specific song if it really tickled my fancy) just about every week. In truth, I'm hoping to post more than that; but I know myself, and with my work ethic it will probably be less frequent rather than more frequent. But I'll try.

It's all good, and I'm sure whatever happens that I will at least take up bandwidth with this blog... Or in a more positive spirit, I'm sure at least someone will like the music I share.
